For Tina Holland, life with her three dogs is filled with love, laughter, and a touch of daily adventure. Her furry companions brighten every moment, turning even the simplest days into something special.
Tina has a habit of walking her dogs around her Texas office during breaks – a quiet routine that gives everyone a bit of exercise and fresh air. But one afternoon, their walk took a surprising turn. Her dogs began sniffing the ground with unusual focus, circling a particular area as if they’d found something important.
Trusting their instincts, Tina followed them and that’s when she noticed a cardboard box tucked near a dumpster. As she stepped closer, she stopped in her tracks.

Inside the box was a tiny, trembling puppy crawling weakly on her belly.
“As I followed their gaze, my heart dropped – there, trembling and crawling on her belly, was the tiniest puppy I’ve ever seen,” Tina recalled. “She looked utterly terrified and desperate for help.”
The box held a few heartbreaking clues: a pee pad and a small toy – signs that someone had cared for the puppy once, only to abandon her there. “It broke my heart to think that someone had left this defenseless little soul there, just 75 feet away from a busy road,” Tina said.
Without hesitation, she gently lifted the frightened puppy and tucked her inside her hooded sweatshirt to keep her warm.

Back at her office, Tina offered water and checked the pup for injuries or fleas. Thankfully, the little one appeared unharmed but was clearly in need of professional care. Tina reached out to Dawgs Fight Back, a trusted Texas rescue group, and they took the puppy in right away.
At the rescue, the pup received a new name – Peeka – and a fresh start. Despite her rough beginning, Peeka’s sweet nature quickly shone through.
“She’s fantastic! Peeka has such a silly and sweet personality,” said rescue director Alyson McDonnell. “She spends her mornings running outside with our big dogs. They chase each other or various bugs that fly by.”
With warmth, safety, and love, Peeka began to thrive. She became playful, affectionate, and eager for every bit of attention she could get. But her journey isn’t quite finished – she’s still searching for a forever home.

Alyson believes Peeka will fit perfectly with an active family, especially one with kids or other pets to match her energy. “She’s friendly with everyone she meets and loves being in the spotlight,” Alyson added.
After everything she’s endured, Peeka’s story now has hope at its heart. Her days of fear are behind her, replaced by comfort, companionship, and the promise of a brighter future.
