There’s something about a sleepy Golden Retriever that could melt even the coldest heart.
When one adorable pup named Wally tried his best to stay awake during a rainy car ride, the result was pure, cosy perfection.
Too Sleepy To Function
Poor Wally was clearly running on empty.
In a video shared by his owner, the golden boy sits in the car, eyes drooping as raindrops patter softly outside.
His mum gently tries to coax him out, but Wally has other plans – namely, a nap.
Even though he’s already dressed in the cutest raincoat and matching hat, he just can’t find the motivation to move.

“You can’t fall asleep, bud,” his mum says with a laugh from behind the camera.
But it’s too late – Wally’s eyelids are heavy, and he’s moments away from snoozing right there in the car seat.
The video, captioned “Another day in the life of my very furry toddler,” perfectly sums up what life with a sleepy Golden looks like.
Fans Can’t Get Enough
Viewers in the comments immediately sided with Wally.
One person joked, “He needs to be carried inside like the baby he is.”
Another wrote, “I am Wally’s lawyer, and it’s mandatory you carry him inside because he’s the goodest boy.”
Someone else added, “There’s mum’s schedule… and then there’s Wally’s schedule.”
It’s hard not to relate – we’ve all had those days where even the thought of getting out into the rain feels impossible.
And let’s be honest, with that face, Wally could get away with almost anything.
Why Goldens Love Their Naps
Golden Retrievers are known for their gentle temperament and loving nature, but they also have one major hobby – sleeping.
According to veterinarians, most adult Goldens snooze between 12 and 14 hours a day.
Puppies and senior dogs may sleep even more, sometimes up to 20 hours.
All that rest helps them recharge from their naturally high-energy playtime and keeps them healthy and calm.
So Wally’s mid-car nap wasn’t laziness – it was biology.
And with the rain tapping against the windows and his cosy raincoat on, who could really blame him?
