That is what happened to Loki, a fourteen year old ginger cat whose story has touched people across North America.
Loki had spent his entire life with one family in the United States. When they decided to move, they brought him to the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg rather than taking him with them. The shift from a home to a shelter environment is difficult for any animal, but for an older cat who has known the same routine for more than a decade, the transition was especially overwhelming.
